Boss’s Day: Celebrating Jacob Lantz and His Commitment to Central Texas
This Boss’s Day, we’re celebrating Jacob Lantz, the man whose journey in plumbing led to the wonderful Lantz Home Services company that homeowners love today. From his birthplace in Hilo, Hawaii, to the community he calls home in Central Texas, Jacob’s story brings together family, hard work, a love of sports, and a personality that can fill a room.
Our customers know the Lantz Home Services name through plumbing, HVAC, and electrical services. Today, we’re sharing more about the person behind that name. Jacob is a family man, a golf enthusiast, a fan of a good laugh, and someone who cares deeply about giving back to the community.
From Hilo to Lago Vista
Early Years on the East Coast
Jacob was born in Hilo, Hawaii, before moving to the East Coast as a child. There, he played Little League baseball, beginning a connection to sports that remains part of his life today.
Those early years are an important part of his story, especially when you consider his passion for helping children have opportunities to play. Long before starting a home services company, Jacob was a kid taking his own turn on the baseball field. That’s why seeing the Lantz logo on those team banners means so much to us!
Finding a Lasting Love for Golf
Jacob eventually moved to Lago Vista, where he discovered his love for golf, because the area did not have a Little League baseball team at them time. That interest followed him into adulthood and continues to be one of his favorite ways to spend time outside of work, as he is a faithful member of the Horseshoe Bay Resort.
Baseball and golf have stayed with him in different ways. One connects to his childhood on the East Coast, while the other connects to his life in Texas. Both help explain why youth sports hold such a special place in his heart. If you meet him in person, look down to see if he’s wearing his signature Houston Astros socks!
The Journey to Lantz Home Services
Starting With Plumbing
As a young adult, Jacob began learning the plumbing trade. What started as learning a skilled profession became the foundation for the business we know today.
His path also included contract work in Afghanistan. After returning, Jacob started his own plumbing company, taking the next step in a career that would continue to grow and change.
That plumbing background remains central to the Lantz Home Services story. Before the company offered multiple trades, it began with Jacob with one van, learning the work and later deciding to build a business of his own.
Expanding Into HVAC and Electrical Services
Jacob eventually added HVAC services to the company, followed by electrical services. With each addition, the business expanded beyond its plumbing beginnings to offer more services for homeowners from Lago Vista to Austin.
Today, Lantz Home Services brings those three trades together. Boss’s Day gives us a chance to recognize the person who took those steps, from learning plumbing as a young adult to building a widely trusted company that now offers plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical services.
Family and a Big Personality
Supported by a Loving Family
Family is a meaningful part of Jacob’s life. He comes from a loving family that supports him in everything he does and he still enjoys a Sunday afternoon watching football with his parents whenever he gets the chance.
Recognizing his journey also means recognizing that support. Behind the business milestones is a big, happy family that encouraged him along the way. As the oldest child to two loving parents (who are now Leander locals), they could not be more proud of the man Jacob Lantz has become.
Coffee and Cookies With Plenty of Laughs
Of course, a tribute to Jacob would feel incomplete without a few of his favorites: Crumbl cookies, caffeine in the morning, making people laugh and beautiful days out on the lake.
His big personality is part of what makes him so memorable. While his career tells the story of how Lantz Home Services began, Jacob the person has so much more to him than just owning a home service company. This is why we appreciate having him as our boss so much.
Giving Back to Central Texas
Supporting Local Events and Organizations
Jacob’s connection to Central Texas extends beyond his business. He loves giving back and supports local events and organizations through attendance, donations, or both. Whether is the Leander softball team or the Austin Humane Society, Jacob loves being involved in the improvement of life.
That involvement reflects how much the area means to him. For Jacob, being part of a community includes showing up for the people and organizations working to make it better, even when they don’t have any plumbing issues.
Helping Children Have a Chance to Play
One of Jacob’s greatest passions is making sure children have opportunities to participate in sports, especially baseball, softball, and golf.
It is a cause with a personal connection. His own story includes Little League baseball and discovering golf in Lago Vista. Supporting opportunities for young athletes brings those interests into his community involvement and gives him another way to give back to Central Texas families.
